How Long Do You Really Have to Stick with the Lemonade Diet?
When it comes to fasting, duration is key: if you don’t fast long enough, you won’t get the detoxification and weight loss benefits. Conversely, if you fast too long, you could end up with vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
The Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet generally recommends a 10 day fast for the best benefits. However, this is just a recommendation. Everyone’s bodies are different and some people will only be able to cope with a shorter fast whereas others will endure a much longer fast. Transition Periods are Crucial
Keep in mind that fasting involves more than just the periods of time without food. You will also need to spend some time preparing your body for a fast and also slowly transitioning back to normal eating habits. If you think that you can jump into a fast, drink only the lemonade diet drink for a few days, and then jump back into your regular routine, you are in for a big disappointment! It Gets Easier after the First Few Days
There is no denying that Master Cleanse fast is difficult at first – particularly if it is your first time fasting. You will feel hunger pangs during the first day or two. After several days of fasting on the Lemonade Diet though, your body goes into a survival mode and its hunger sensations start to shut down. By day 4 of a Lemonade Diet fast, you shouldn’t be struggling as much with hunger. If you only fast for 4 days, you are selling yourself short of the full benefits which could be achieved.
When you start out on a fast, you should have a goal in mind. However, this goal should not be set in concrete. If true hunger sets in, then you will need to eat or your body could start breaking down muscle mass for fuel.
Normal hunger during a fasting is a familiar feeling in the stomach, like a deep pang. These hunger pangs will eventually go away as your body starts to break down stored fat for energy. You will feel energetic and have clear cognitive function. At some point, your fat reserves may start running thin so your body begins to break down muscle. When this happens, you will have “true hunger.” With true hunger, you will feel the hunger in your mouth and throat rather than the stomach. It usually occurs all at once after not feeling hungry for days. You won’t just want food but will feel a deep, instinctual need for food. When you feel true hunger, it is a sign that you should stop the Lemonade Diet fast and start giving your body fuel again.
